Zoolumination has been taking place at the Nashville Zoo for several years now in association with Chinese New Year. Recently the zoo has united this display with their Christmas one, making the light show run from November through February. That being said, this light display is spectacular and enormous, being possibly the largest walk through light exhibit I've ever seen including several amusement parks and more expensive holiday themed shows. It is very popular as the zoo was very crowded, and it is so large that if you want to see everything you need to get as early of a timed ticket as possible. The animals have all gone to bed except for the tigers, bears and flamingos (also the reptile house is open), but the lights and night time atmosphere are more than worth it.

I have been caving in a wild cave once before when I was in high school. Of course I was 20 years younger then so when I signed up for Outdoor Murfreesboro's caving trip I wasn't really expecting the same level of difficulty. We were taken to Indian Grave Point Cave and I was not expecting the level of difficulty that this expedition involved. There was a lot of crawling, clinging to very slick ledges lest you slide into the void, and a lot of mud. This was an adventure I was proud to say I accomplished, but I don't think I'd do it again nor is spelunking really a hobby I would take up. I've seen The Descent and while I'm not claustrophobic, there is an element of getting lost in a cave that seems incredibly easy to do. The trip was a full body workout: crawling, squats, upper body lifting. Indian Grave isn't a pretty cave, but it is one that gives you the impression of what real spelunking would be. |
